Reports To: VP & General Manager
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
JOB SUMMARY: The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They will assist in the development of processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
- Be responsible for employee safety, product quality, production output, and on-time delivery.
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
- Maintain, develop, and monitor an effective PM program.
- Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions accordingly.
- Share a trusting relationship with peers and direct reports.
- Recruit, manage and develop plant staff.
- Collect and analyze data to find places of waste or overtime
- Commit to plant safety procedures and continuous improvement ideas
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, KPI’s and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
- Address employees’ issues, work with HR to process issues following employee handbook policies
- Evaluate assigned staff’s talent base, support performance evaluations, identify training needs, and recommend effective action plans for meeting performance expectations.

Specific Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven managerial experience as a Plant Manager in a manufacturing environment. A minimum of five years’ experience is preferred.
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (P&L management, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
- Manufacturing experience to include knowledge of metal fabrication, paint, weld assembly and quality control.
- Understanding of production schedules, estimated verses actual cost and has a proven history of execution of manufactured or engineered to order product.
- Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- Four-year Business Management degree or related field preferred
