Job Summary
The Powder Coat Lead is responsible for overseeing the powder coating process, ensuring high-quality finishes on metal components while maintaining efficiency and adherence to safety standards. This role involves supervising the powder coating team, coordinating workflow, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring compliance with production schedules. The ideal candidate has experience in industrial powder coating, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily operations of the powder coating team to meet production goals.
- Set up and operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns, curing ovens, and booths.
- Ensure proper preparation of materials, including cleaning, masking, and pre-treatment processes.
- Monitor coating application for consistency, thickness, and adherence to specifications.
- Conduct quality inspections and address defects or rework requirements.
- Train and mentor team members on powder coating techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures.
- Maintain inventory of powders, chemicals, and supplies while minimizing waste.
- Perform routine maintenance on coating equipment and troubleshoot any operational issues.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations.
- Work closely with production supervisors, quality control, and other departments to optimize workflow and efficiency.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial powder coating.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of powder coating equipment, processes, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and surface preparation techniques.
- Proficiency in color matching and coating thickness measurements.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
