Quality Inspector
Department: Quality Control
Reports To: Quality Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt
Shift: 2nd Shift
Duties & Responsibilities
- Read instructions and prints to comprehend the quality expectations for the product and supplies
- Approve or reject raw materials with respect to quality standards and record supplies performance
- Select output sample and check them using the appropriate methods measuring dimensions, testing functionally, and comparing to specifications
- Measure product dimensions, examine functionality, and compare the final to specifications
- Maintain records of inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records
- Inspect procedure of the entire production cycle to ensure they are efficient and comply with Quality & safety standards
- Monitor the use of gages and testing equipment to ensure it is safe and well maintained. Contact Supervisor if found to not meet requirements.
- Prepare, scan & electronically file QC reports.
- Recommend improvements to the production / Quality
- When requested, teach the production team about quality control concepts to improve product quality.
- Resolve quality related issues in a timely manner.
- Initiate and process Non-Conforming Material Reports. Identify (tag) discrepant / suspect material until dispositioned.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Proven experience as a quality inspector or relevant role
- Familiarity with quality testing machines and systems
- Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel. Ability to locate, open, modify & save electronic files.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two Years’ Experience in comparable field
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 30 - 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking on uneven concrete surfaces.
