IES Residential is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to oversee the management and operation of our vehicle fleet, supporting our construction services for homebuilders and multi-family housing projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our fleet operations, optimizing vehicle usage, and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations. Our divisional fleet has over 2,100 vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall operation of the fleet, including light vehicles, heavy machinery, and specialized construction equipment.
- Operational Efficiency: Develop and implement strategies to maximize fleet utilization and efficiency, reduce downtime, and manage lifecycle costs of fleet assets.
- Maintenance Scheduling: Implement and manage a preventative maintenance program to ensure all vehicles and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all fleet operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Enhance and enforce safety standards and protocols for vehicle and equipment operation.
- Budget Management: Manage the fleet budget, including cost analysis and forecasting for vehicle replacement, fuel consumption, and maintenance expenses.
- Vendor Relations: Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors, service providers, and insurance carriers. Ensure quality service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records for vehicle statuses, maintenance schedules, registrations, and insurance renewals.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and develop fleet staff, promoting a culture of safety and efficiency.
Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, preferably in a construction-related industry.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and maintenance processes of commercial vehicles and equipment.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and technology.
- DOT experience highly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
