Job Summary
This position is responsible for the overall operation and general maintenance of the Paint Robotic and support equipment (Spray Booths, Paint Supply Systems) at the IFA Paintline. Includes but not limited to safety, throughput, uptime, and continuous improvement. The position will serve as the first line operation for robot programming and software issues and shall assist the site maintenance team with troubleshooting robot electrical and mechanical issues. The position is expected to be available 24x7 for critical support needs.

- Work with peers, skilled trades and support staff to maintain and identify equipment in need of repair.

- Responsible for key paint KPIs including paint quality, material usage, etc.
- Modification of Robot program path and application settings as needed
- Responsible for general maintenance of Paint Robots, Bell applicators and Spray Booths (ie: cleaning, booth coating, robot covers, filter replacement, etc.)
- When necessary, changing of Paint / Rinse Solvent material supply and waste drums
- Investigate and reduce robot downtime frequency and duration
- Create and update robot Work Instructions for operation and troubleshooting
- Assist with development of Maintenance Work Instructions and work processes
- Review Operator and Maintenance processes to ensure safety and efficiency
- Develop and analyze data to drive continuous improvement and maintain historical log of all non-conformance issues.
- Lead robot incident investigations and ensure all investigations are documented
- Work closely with robot vendors and OEMs to internalize knowledge and reduce reliance on external companies
- Attend trainings with vendor or partner sites to identify and implement best practices
- Apply standard work/lean techniques to drive improvement
- Train and develop other site resources as backup
- Support Site Manager and staff as needed with critical data requests and ad hoc reports
- Complies with QS 9000 / IATF 16949 requirements

- Follows defined safety and housekeeping policies
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Previous Paint Robot operation and programming experience
- General knowledge of Spray Booth operation
- General knowledge of paint supply system operation
- General paint application experience
- Associates or higher degree
- FANUC Robot experience
- Sames Bell Applicator experience
- 2K Paint Systems
- Training in relevant software programs and tools
Specific Skills:
- Advanced computer knowledge
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Able to influence and manage other resources including operators, maintenance, and external vendors
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of robot configuration software
- Demonstrated understanding of IRNA Quality Management System (QMS) as applicable to assign area of responsibility
- Understand the relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to achieving quality objectives (UNIVERSAL per IATF 16949)
- Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility: 95% of the time
- Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 80% of the time
- Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 70% of the time
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a frequent basis: 40% of the time
- Must be able to lift over 40lbs on an infrequent basis: 15% of the time
- Must be able to sit at a work station: 0% of the time
- Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 80% of the time
- Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc
- Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
- Must be able to work with paints/solvents/cleaners
- May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
- May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
- Must be able to work any shift as required including overtime as needed
