Production Team Lead
Job Summary:
This position supports manufacturing operations with setting up the production line to complete specific orders, overseeing employees working on the assembly lines, and ensuring that departmental key performance indicators are met – safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Successful Production Team Leads should exhibit knowledge of how their lines impact key performance indicators. They should be a team player and jump in where necessary to maintain production flow. They should make sure new employees are trained appropriately and check behind them to make sure processes are being followed according to production standards. An excellent team lead will be someone whose production line expertise results in departmental targets being met without compromising on safety or quality. Work is a combination of overseeing people and line operations and technical where independent judgment is used and decisions are made within the limits of policies and procedures. Works with minimal supervision.

Quality

- Oversee the receiving of incoming goods to the line and ensure they are accurately sorted and stored to optimize productivity.

- Works at the required cycle time or defined engineering standard.

- Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.
- Completes training in line with business requirements.
- Participates actively in ways to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.
- Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks and performs planned operator care and maintenance tasks.
- Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet business goals to include working in other areas as business needs require.
- Works with peers, skilled trades and support staff to maintain and identify equipment in need of repair.

Essential Functions:
- Ability to lead and direct operator activities.
- Ensure all employees working on the assembly line are in compliance with PPE guidelines.
- Encourage cross training of employees who have successfully completed training guidelines
- Make sure employees are following ergo standards
- Complete audit to ensure operators are following work instructions
- Responsible for production plan adherence (sequence of production orders)
- Ensure completion of inspection plans per Changeover Verification Reports (CVRs)
- Assign and reallocate operators according to line needs to meet production goals
- Collaborate on projects concerning area of ownership
- Report out line key performance indicators as needed (team meetings, etc.)
- Document hourly performance on digital and physical production boards
- Able to perform machine setup as needed and verify part conformance to specifications
- Ensure that the output of the line is meeting target to the production plan
- Take appropriate action when output of the line is not meeting target, escalate if needed
- Interact with Core Team members as necessary to resolve problems.
- Verify production orders are released and then booked once completed
- Tag and book any suspect material by end of shift in Forcam system
- Verify downtime CODING on Forcam system
- Review Work In Progress items and raw material status and order material as needed.
- Ensure Maintenance Work Order is logged for any down equipment
- Oversee training and evaluation of operators within the manufacturing lines. Assign additional training and mentor operators based on line needs.
- Troubleshoot to diagnose and repair minor technical issues.
- Ensure 5s and Total Productive Maintenance processes are performed daily.
- Follow defined work instructions, OSHA safety standards and housekeeping policies

- Performs other duties as required and assigned
Education:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Technical degree in areas of manufacturing preferred
Experience:
- Minimum one (1) year of manufacturing experience (automotive preferred)
- Knowledge in product or process troubleshooting desired
Specific Skills:
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software
- Previous experience leading people
Preferred Skills:
- SAP knowledge
- Forcam knowledge
- Measurement tools – gauges, calipers etc.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility
- Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area
- Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs on a frequent basis
- Must be able to lift over 30 lbs on an infrequent basis
- Must be able to sit at a work station
- Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal
- Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
- Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically/international as required
