The Regional Vice President (RVP) for Asia & the Pacific (APAC) is looking to recruit an Extended Term Consultant (ETC) for the Vice Presidency’s (VPU) front office. The APAC VPU oversees IFC’s engagements in two subregions – East Asia & the Pacific and South Asia. The Vice President is part of IFC’s Senior Management and interacts closely with the Board, IBRD, MIGA, and external partners.
The ETC will provide support on the work program, with a special focus on the region’s efforts related to the Health sector in APAC. In particular, the ETC will focus on analyzing how IFC can sustainably expand its reach and impact in the sector through both advisory and investment operations. This includes close collaboration with relevant subject matter experts across the WBG and leveraging ongoing initiatives, such as workstreams under the Global Challenge Program for Health (Health GCP).
The position provides a unique opportunity to gain an overview of IFC’s operations in the APAC region and broader issues of strategy, organization, as well as interact with a wide range of people across the World Bank Group.
The position will be based in Washington, DC.

Roles And Responsibilities
- Support the RVP on the implementation of the work program, especially in the health sector.
- Engage in in-depth conversations with subject matter experts across IFC and the WBG to understand the status, timeline and different workstreams associated with the health sector.
- Focus particularly on the roles and activities related to IFC and IFC Asia to ensure alignment and integration with broader WBG and IFC initiatives.
- Assist with the preparation of reporting materials for various audiences on the region’s business performance, development results and key economic updates.
- Against the backdrop of the Health GCP, in collaboration with IFC Asia regional and industry teams, map the investment, upstream and advisory efforts (both existing and expected) in health sector.
- Assess how these initiatives align with and support the objectives of the Health GCP, ensuring that there is a clear and strategic connection between regional efforts and the GCP.
- Identify and analyze high-impact health interventions where IFC’s unique value-add and the collaborative One WBG approach are clearly demonstrated.
- Support review of materials related to investment and advisory projects and country/regional strategies.
- Master’s degree in public/private health and understanding of the health field.
- Experience with reviewing and analyzing public health policy in developing economies and potential implications for public and private procurement of health-related services in these markets.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience working within the WBG is a plus.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills and sound business judgement.
- Advanced proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and data analytics.
- Team player with ability to handle a large workload, balance and prioritize competing demands under high-pressure, and quickly respond to complex demands.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to take initiative and work independently under limited supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of tact and discretion in dealing with various stakeholders at all levels.
- High ethical standards and ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Capacity to follow up systematically and efficiently on a broad set of initiatives and tasks.
- Keen interest in development finance and the private sector in emerging markets.
- Flexibility in work hours, as needed, to accommodate the heavy demands and pace of operations.
- Prior experience in research / data analytics and regional experience in Asia and the Pacific is a plus.
