The Rockland Site Engineering Team Is An Organization That Provides Technical Support For Site Level Projects And Initiatives. The Mission Of The Team Is To Maintain Our Process Technology Knowledge And Ensure a Strong Technical Foundation To Enable
Safe and reliable manufacture of products that meet our performance requirements
Quick and accurate response to business and customer needs
Effective execution of capital projects, product scale-ups, and process changes
Continuous improvement in process safety, product quality, and capacity in the drive for Operations Excellence
As an Improvement Engineer you will work with cross functional teams to ensure alignment between commercial, manufacturing, research & development, safety, heath & environmental.
You will focus on longer range process improvement initiatives and provide technical support for:
Process safety assessment and improvement initiatives – implementation of process safety standards
Development and documentation of process technology information
Development and execution of quality, yield and capacity improvement initiatives
Capital project support
Plant / process start-ups
Product scale-ups or transfers
Chronic production issues and process problems
You will be based in Rockland, Maine, and you will report to the site’s Manufacturing Technology Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to support the key business segments of carrageenan within the Food & Beverages group. You may also be called upon to support other technologies as needed within the Nutrition Ingredients division such as alginates, carrageenan, and pectin.
If you're a Chemical Engineer with related technical experience and enjoy supporting and managing projects in a chemical plant environment, this role will afford you the opportunity to manage exciting projects as part of the Nutrition & Biosciences operations team.

Required Education
- BS in Chemical Engineering
- 2-5 years of engineering experience within the chemical industry and demonstrated knowledge of the continuous improvement practice, business processes, technologies and applications. (Will consider entry level with internship experience)
- Competency interacting with internal and external customers
- Strong safety orientation including familiarity with process safety management principles
- A demonstrated history of bringing projects in safely, on time and on budget with effective “Management of Change” principles
- The ability to effectively present at both informal and formal training settings
- Ability to lead project teams and deliver project milestone updates effectively
- Being data based and results driven with strong action item deployment combined with practiced risk management abilities
- Strategic agility with foresight and the ability to create alternate plans
