PRODUCT SAFETY SITE LEADER
The Product Safety Site Leader uses an understanding of site operations, processes, and operating procedures to develop, implement, and oversee food safety programs to ensure that all food products meet quality and safety standards. This role involves conducting internal audits, managing compliance with food safety regulations, and promoting food safety culture among staff. The Product Safety Leader must be able to interact effectively with plant personnel at all levels to influence desired outcomes and foster an environment of collaboration and commitment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality and food safety policies and procedures in accordance with local and government regulations, and food safety standards.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food industry regulations.
- Promote continuous improvement and food safety culture within the facility.
- Provide training to employees on GMPs and food safety practices.
- Identify potential food safety risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve product quality and safety.
- Fairly and consistently adhere to all company and plant procedures, work rules and guidelines.
- Foster and maintain good employee relations through all the appropriate methods of communications and positive employee relations practices.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
- Must at minimum possess the equivalent of a U.S, bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, quality control, food manufacturing, and/or cross functional teams.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, including FSMA, FDA, USDA, and requirements of certification schemes (SQF, FSSC:22000).
- Ability to conduct detailed audits and write reports.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing customer and certification bodies audits preferred.
- HACCP and PCQI certification preferred.
- Internal Auditor, and SQF practitioner preferred.
- Certified Quality Engineer CQE-ASQ preferred.
- This position works in a manufacturing environment.
- This position reports to the Pryor Quality Assurance Manager
