We are seeking a skilled Machinery Technician for a contract role in La Porte, Texas, with experience in industrial gases and a strong understanding of cryogenic pumps. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery related to gas processing, storage, and distribution. This role requires hands-on expertise in mechanical and cryogenic equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability in industrial gas operations.
- Install, maintain, and repair cryogenic pumps, compressors, and related machinery.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in industrial gas systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on cryogenic equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Assist in the setup and commissioning of new equipment.
- Work with liquid nitrogen, oxygen, argon, hydrogen, and other cryogenic gases safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation of maintenance activities.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years working with industrial gas equipment or cryogenic pumps.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with centrifugal and reciprocating cryogenic pumps, vaporizers, compressors, and piping systems.
- Mechanical & Electrical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical control systems.
- Safety Training: Knowledge of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), confined space entry, and hazardous materials handling.
- Education: Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Other Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills.
- Prior experience in the industrial gas or cryogenic industry.
- Understanding of gas distribution and storage systems.
- Contract Duration: 8-12 months (No per diem, hourly rate only).
- Exposure to extreme temperatures and pressurized gases.
- Must be able to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
