What are the responsibilities and job description for the HORSEBACK RIDING INSTRUCTOR position at IGF Corp.?
Small Private Equestrian Facility seeking an additional instructor to teach our riders English Riding disciplines. This position is part time to start, with flexible scheduling to fit your lifestyle, while also being based on the availability of our clients. Can easily lead to Full Time, if desired.
A little about us: We offer private 1 hr riding lessons, 1/2 hr intro lessons, exciting group lessons, Horsemanship Courses, Clinics, Training, Summer Camps, Shows, Lease Programs, Working Student Internships and more and we are in need of an additional independent Riding Instructor who can teach primarily English (Hunters/Jumpers, Equitation) and might be able to also teach some Western (not a requirement). Being familiar with and able to teach some Dressage is a definite plus.
We have been offering equestrian services to the Lehigh Valley, Slate Belt, Poconos, NJ and surrounding areas for over 33 years.
The candidate must have excellent riding skills/horse knowledge and adequate teaching skills to be able to mold beginner or timid riders into confident equestrians, but also be able to teach advanced riders. Must also be able to assist in exercising horses and assisting in some occasional general horse care if needed. The applicant can also assist in the following based on availability and our need: summer camp, show promotion, show planning and prep, and if available can attend some of the shows with their students interested in showing!
If you lack actual instructing / teaching experience but are an excellent advanced rider, and have experience training horses, and have shown and competed successfully, but have not yet taught professionally, we will consider the possibility of training the right candidate.
An Equine Science degree and/or Certification in Instruction is a definite plus but not a requirement. Already having Child Clearances and background checks are also a plus.
Once oriented, the candidate must be able to work independently. The candidate must possess the following qualifications: be reliable, dependable, consistent, honest, trust-worthy, able to make a commitment, intelligent, able to follow verbal and written directions, detail-oriented, have good organizational skills, have at least some basic managerial/administrative skills, be a good communicator, physically strong, hard worker, energetic, athletic, upbeat, positive, be able to have fun with children, teach both children and adults, be able to get along very well with others, be kind to humans and animals and want to make a difference in others' lives. We work together as a team, so team spirit, comradery, and working for the overall good of the company and our furry friends is important to us here!
The hours for teaching riding instruction are flexible and open to discussion. Depending on the Applicant's skills and abilities, the hours can and will increase as available and as desired. Our team of instructors teach 7 days a week year round. The pay for each riding lesson depend on the applicants' experience and the number of students you are teaching in that hour.
Once you and the students you teach have set up a schedule, it should be basically the same each week, with continual steady growth. We will set you up with riders to teach and You are also welcome to bring your own clients.
