The Opportunity
IGN Entertainment has an opportunity to join the team as a Cinematographer playing a critical role in studio, event, and field productions. This role will be responsible for overseeing camera looks and camera operations for IGNE shoots across multiple team endeavors spanning across core, branded, and event departments and as such, requires an individual who is collaborative and approachable. As the world’s biggest games and entertainment media outlet there are times where production is juggling multiple projects simultaneously and to that end, the ideal candidate should be able to multitask and work efficiently. Productions at IGNE also vary from small, 4 person shoots to far larger projects with 30 personnel shooting both locally and on location across the globe. This position reports to the Senior Director of Video Production and will be based in our West Los Angeles office. Travel to onsite shoots and for local and global events is required as needed.
Key Responsibilities

Lead consultant on camera looks in the IGN studios, off-site events, and field shoots when assigned. Looks may include lighting, camera placement, and camera moves.
Works directly with both core content and branded producers to define creative visions for productions. - Responsible for camera settings, ensuring that each is set to the ideal shuttle angle and aperture on every production.
- Defines lighting requirements — ensures the lighting system is up and running, working with external Lighting Director as needed on adding, re-configuring, and/or operating lights.
- Oversees that the camera inventory is in place, all cameras and their support systems are in working order, and is responsible for ensuring any maintenance necessary is performed.
- Oversees cameras and lighting check-outs and check-ins for field shoots.
- Assists Project and Production Managers with studio production schedules and staffing, helping source camera operators, Directors of Photographs to fill-in, and other resourcing as needed.
- Works with producers and other camera operators on operations and safety of studio, field cameras and their support systems, along with grip and other in-studio production gear used to assist in camera and lighting set up.
Job Qualifications
- 3 years of camera & lighting experience in a studio and/or field setting.
- Comprehensive understanding of lighting types and techniques.
- Dynamic experience in lighting design and rigging.
- Detailed technical understanding of professional cameras such as Sony FX6, Blackmagic, and URSA.
- Strong knowledge of cinema and broadcast lenses.
- Understanding of color profiles including S-Log, Raw, Rec 709, etc.
- Ability to create a LUTs and color correct video using tools such as Divinci Resolve.
- Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop experience.
- Passion for IGN and/or video games, comics, movies, TV, and all things entertainment.
It would be extra awesome if you have…
- Understanding of professional lighting systems (e.g. ETC EOS).
- Ability to operate a jib (9ft ).
- Experience with setting up camera and/or lighting at an event with limited set up time.
Work Environment:
- Work Schedule: Full time working schedule, M-F. Due to the nature of the role, there is an expectation for this role to work hours outside of typical business hours and on weekends based on the needs of clients, events management and load in/load out schedules.
- Travel Requirements: Local and global travel to events, event locations, as needed. International travel as needed.
- Physical Requirements: This role involves standard office-based activities, including extended periods of sitting, standing, and working at a computer. On and offsite studio set up and related activities require the ability to bend and lift up to 25 lbs and include operating cameras from handheld to jibs, moving, loading, and unloading equipment, and setting lights. Occasional travel is required, which could include lifting and carrying materials, and navigating airports, hotels, and other venues.

Work Model: This role is based in-office, and will be required to go into our Los Angeles office 5 times each week, Monday - Friday.

Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
