Responsibilities
- System Deployment & Configuration: Assist in the design, installation, and configuration of communication systems, including voice, data, and satellite networks
- Network Management: Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain network infrastructure to ensure secure and efficient communication across naval operations
- Technical Support: Provide on-site and remote technical support to resolve issues related to communication systems and equipment
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all communication networks and systems comply with Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity standards and operational security protocols
- Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with NIWC Atlantic teams, contractors, and military stakeholders to align communication strategies with mission objectives
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of system configurations, network performance, and issue resolutions, while also preparing technical reports for senior leadership
- Training & Knowledge Sharing: Conduct training sessions and create instructional materials to educate personnel on the proper use and maintenance of communication systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- 5 years of experience in communications systems setup, network administration, or related technical fields
- Experience working in a DoD or government contracting environment
- Strong understanding of network architecture, radio frequency (RF) communications, and cybersecurity protocols
- Experience configuring and maintaining Cisco, Juniper, and/or other networking equipment
- Familiarity with DoD network security requirements, RMF (Risk Management Framework), and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in LAN, WAN, VoIP, and SATCOM technologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications for documentation and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- CCNA, Security , or Network certification
- Experience in tactical communications and military-grade networking systems
- Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud-based communication solutions
