The Facilities IT Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting IT and low-voltage systems within customer facilities. This role ensures the reliable operation of security systems, access control, video surveillance, IoT devices, and network infrastructure, providing excellent service and support to clients across Northern California and Hawaii.
Responsibilities
System Installation and Configuration:
- Install, configure, and commission security systems, including alarm panels, access control readers, and video surveillance cameras.
- Install, configure, and integrate IoT devices and smart building technologies.
- Install, terminate, and test low-voltage voice, data, and video cabling.
- Configure network settings for security and IoT devices, including IP addressing, VLANs, and firewall rules.
Systems Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on security systems, access control systems, and IoT devices.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to security systems, access control systems, IoT devices, and network connectivity.
- Respond to service calls and provide timely and effective on-site customer support.
- Monitor system logs and alerts to identify and address potential problems proactively.
- Update firmware and software on security systems and IoT devices.
Project Coordination and Vendor Management:
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.
- Manage vendor relationships, including procurement, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to security protocols, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate work records, including service calls, installations, and maintenance activities.
Travel and Customer Service:
- Travel frequently to customer sites across Northern California and Hawaii.
- Provide exceptional customer service, building strong relationships with clients.
- Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear explanations of technical issues and solutions.
Qualifications:
- Required: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred: Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred:
- Certifications in relevant areas such as:
- Security systems (e.g., specific manufacturer certifications)
- Network administration (e.g., CompTIA Network , CCNA)
- Low-voltage cabling
- IoT technologies
