Requirements
We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable bookkeeping and HR assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide support in various aspects of accounting and human resources. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of general accounting principles, HR policies and labor laws including multi-state employment legislation, particularly experience with California employment laws and regulations.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Assist department directors with recruitment and hiring processes, including job postings, pre-screening, and onboarding new employeesDevelop and implement with the coordination of senior-level management policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and best practicesAssist department directors with employee relations, handling workplace issues, conflicts, and grievancesLead employee engagement initiatives to enhance workplace culture and satisfactionEnsure compliance with labor laws, health and safety regulations, and company policiesConfirm compliance with multi-state employment laws, specifically California, including wage and hour regulations, leaves of absence, and workers' compensation insurance and auditsAdminister all people and safety-related reports, including Family Medical Leave (FMLA), OSHA, and EEO-1Coordinate benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee programsAssist with the maintenance of employee records and assist with the management HR information systemsAssist department directors with employee disciplinary actions and terminations, ensuring adherence to legal and company standardsAssist with the maintenance of financial records, including ledgers, invoices, and receiptsAssist with processing accounts payable and receivable in a timely mannerReconcile bank statements and monitor cash flowAssist in the preparation of financial reports and budgetsEnsure compliance with accounting policies and regulationsAssist with payroll processing and related financial tasksAssist with general office management including inventory management
Required Skills / Abilities :
In-depth knowledge of payroll systems, tax compliance, and HR best practicesKnowledge of general accounting principlesExperience with multi-state employment lawStrong understanding of California employment laws, including AB 5, SB 778, and CFRA.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrityEffective organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesSuperb analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Education, Experience & Certifications :
Associate degree in Bookkeeping, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)3-5 years of related HR and bookkeeping experienceProficiency in QuickBooks Online and MS Office SuiteSHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred, but not requiredCompensation :
