What are the responsibilities and job description for the IBM Data Power Engineer position at IGT Solutions?
Job Title: IBM Data Power Engineer
Location: Atlanta, GA (Day one Onsite Hybrid)
Duration: Long Term
Client: Delta Airlines
Exp.: 8 Yrs.
Note - **Delta used to have a monitoring solution in place to observe their Datapower environments, however that solution kept losing data, so they ripped it out. Last year, they purchased several DPOD licenses and are trying to deploy DPOD themselves, with great struggle. Ultimately, they want to determine why transactions fail and gain insight on the transactions that are going through Datapower. **
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Datapower Operations Dashboard (DPOD) Implementation & Monitoring Specialist to support Delta in deploying and optimizing their DPOD solution for comprehensive transaction monitoring and troubleshooting in their Datapower environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in deploying and configuring DPOD, understanding transaction monitoring, and ensuring that the environment is stable, reliable, and capable of identifying transaction failures and system performance issues.
Key Responsibilities:
DPOD Deployment & Configuration: Lead the deployment and configuration of Datapower Operations Dashboard (DPOD) within the Delta environment, ensuring seamless integration with existing Datapower devices.
Troubleshooting & Optimization: Troubleshoot and resolve issues preventing the successful deployment and operation of DPOD, including data loss, integration challenges, and performance issues.
Transaction Monitoring: Implement robust transaction monitoring strategies to track, analyze, and report on transactions flowing through Datapower, with the goal of identifying failures and performance bottlenecks.
Root Cause Analysis: Investigate transaction failures and transaction anomalies, leveraging DPOD’s features to provide deep insights into system logs, error messages, and transaction flows. Identify root causes of failures and suggest corrective actions.
Data Loss Prevention: Address and resolve any ongoing issues related to data loss in the monitoring process, ensuring that DPOD collects and stores data reliably without loss.
Reporting & Dashboards: Design and implement custom dashboards and reports within DPOD that provide actionable insights into the health of the Datapower environment, with a focus on transaction performance, error rates, and system anomalies.
Performance Tuning: Tune the performance of DPOD to handle high volumes of transaction data efficiently, ensuring that the solution can scale and perform under production workloads.
User Training & Support: Provide training to Delta’s internal teams on DPOD usage, troubleshooting, and best practices for transaction monitoring and issue resolution.
Collaboration: Work closely with other infrastructure teams, network teams, and business analysts to ensure comprehensive visibility into Datapower transactions and associated failure points.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of experience with IBM Datapower, particularly in monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Hands-on experience with deploying, configuring, and managing Datapower Operations Dashboard (DPOD).
Experience with monitoring tools and platforms used for enterprise-scale systems, particularly in environments involving transaction processing.
Technical Skills:
Strong expertise in Datapower administration, including policies, services, and security settings.
Proficient with DPOD architecture, configuration, and customization to meet business and technical requirements.
Experience with analyzing transaction logs, system alerts, and troubleshooting transaction-related issues.
Proficiency in troubleshooting network connectivity, protocol failures, and API-related errors within Datapower.
Knowledge of system monitoring frameworks, log management, and alerting systems.
Familiarity with cloud environments and integration with cloud-based Datapower systems (if applicable).
