This role is located at our beautiful headquarters on River Drive in Moline, IL with work from home flexibility. This facility includes a comfortable office environment with an on-site gym facility.
Summary of Position :
The Underwriting Manager will oversee the underwriting and decisioning of loan requests from our Retail, Loan Center, and Mortgage channels. Loan types include auto loans, secured, unsecured, Visa credit cards, home equity, and mortgage loans. Ensures the department's responsibilities are completed accurately, in compliance with Federal and State regulations, and aligned with internal / external policies. Additionally, the position supports the achievement of strategic goals by ensuring underwriting aligns with established risk tolerance levels and supports sales strategies while maintaining a profitable and sustainable loan portfolio.
The successful candidate should have following skills / qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of lending experience and 3 years of Loan Underwriting experience (preferred)
- At least 2 years of prior financial institution management experience (preferred)
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated expertise in credit risk assessment, risk-based lending strategies, and portfolio management
- Strong supervisory, organizational, and decision-making skills
Key Responsibilities :
Supervision & Coaching : Coach, motivate, develop and supervise staff to ensure tasks are completed accurately, meeting credit union standards.Regulatory Compliance : Ensure adherence to Federal and State regulations for consumer and real estate loan processes. Monitor compliance with other regulatory requirements. Stay current with Federal and State regulations, loan products, and internal procedures, offering support as needed.Underwriting Strategy : Collaborate with the sales and executive teams to develop underwriting strategies that align with portfolio goals while maintaining risk tolerance levels. Continuously monitor market trends and economic conditions to adjust strategies as needed.Credit Risk Management : Establish and maintain risk assessment frameworks for consumer and mortgage Monitor loan portfolio performance, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actionsRisk-Based Underwriting Practices : Develop and implement underwriting practices that align with corporate strategies for consumer lending. Continuously assess loan performance to maintain a profitable portfolio. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lending regulations, economic conditions, and changes in applicable laws.
