Job Description IHI Power Service Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for an Operations Supervisor at the Rainer plant in Moses Lake, WA.  Salary range for the position is $130,000 – 170,000 per year, depending on experience. Job Summary The Operations Supervisor will have experience in production and decarbonization processes, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to IPSC’s O&M and Compliance Standards. The Operations Manager is responsible for leading the O&M Technicians assigned to the plant operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in industrial operations, mechanical systems, and a passion for advancing sustainable technologies. The Operations Manager will participate in the employee selection process and is responsible for implementation of the O&M Technician training and qualification program. Develops and updates plant operating procedures. Administers plant operating budget and identifies areas of production optimization and makes recommendations for production improvement.   Job Functions Operations: Leads the Operations teams to coordinate and execute all outages to ensure minimum down time and cost control. Provide leadership to all plant personnel, including regular feedback and coaching of O&M personnel as well as developing Annual Performance Reviews. Utilize the IPSC discipline procedure as appropriate in the performance of managing the O&M Personnel. Enhance the morale and motivation of O&M personnel. Handle employee concerns in a timely and diplomatic manner.   Using established employee selection techniques, hires, trains and supervises all Operations O&M Technicians.      Provides training and development opportunities for assigned personnel.   Monitor, operate, and maintain equipment used in the production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Execute startup, shutdown, and routine operational procedures for jet fuel synthesis systems. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly to minimize downtime. Maintenance:    Conduct periodic reviews of plant operations and maintenance policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current plant goals, operating requirements, and the industry's best in class    Collects, analyzes and correlates performance data to maintain and improve plant performance.  Schedules generation, forced outages, and scheduled outages with customer.  Maintains a positive working relationship with customer.  Collaborate with engineering teams for equipment upgrades and modifications. Familiarity with decarbonization technologies, synthetic fuel production, and jet fuel processes. Understanding of chemical processing equipment, including reactors, separators, and control systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Hands-on experience with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and control systems. Safety & Compliance:    Fosters an environment that encourages superior Safety awareness and Environmental Stewardship through the implementation and support of the Safety Management System and Environmental Management Systems.    Follow strict safety protocols and environmental regulations to ensure compliance with local and international standards. Participate in safety drills, hazard assessments, and emergency response procedures. Maintain accurate documentation of operating logs, maintenance activities, safety inspections, and compliance records. Process Optimization:   Develops and administers non-fuel cost of sales budget.  Provides assistance in development of  capital budgets; originates authorizations for capital expenditures.   Coordinate activities and interfaces with operations contractor and vendor representatives and personnel.    Meets or exceeds daily gross margin budget.   Perform economic analysis and submit budget requests as directed.   Evaluate vendor proposals as required.   Must have hands on experience in managing contractors and plant staff during scheduled and forced outages. Complete special projects as required by the Plant Manager and other leadership. Identify opportunities to enhance production efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Support the implementation of process improvements and innovative decarbonization techniques. Provide feedback and technical insights to engineering teams to refine operations. Demonstrate knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Hands-on experience with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and control systems. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, and operations. Train and mentor junior technicians in safe and efficient practices.       Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. High school diploma or GED; Bachelor / Associate’s degree or certification in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Military or related field a plus 7 years of experience in operations or maintenance within the energy, aviation, or fuel production sectors; or power generation field or military experience in a related technical field. Previous supervisory experience (i.e. Assistant Plant Manager, O&M manager, O&M Supervisor) is preferred. Technical certifications (e.g., OSHA, NCCER, or HAZWOPER) are a plus. Experience with decarbonization technologies, synthetic fuels, or chemical processing is a plus.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position. Strong leadership, motivational, and communication (oral and written) skills, Including the ability to communicate effectively to groups Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery. Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures. Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools; Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other technical reporting tools. Aptitude for reading and interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and documentation. Skilled in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and operational data systems. Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.   Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, air masks, hearing protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required. Although predominately indoors, may include working outdoors. All employees must observe the facilities’ security requirements. Must be able to work in elevated areas, and confined spaces.   Physical Abilities - that is commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.  The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Physical requirements include possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and  Ladder climbing; and routinely carrying 50 pounds.  All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
