What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician - CNC position at II-VI Incorporated?
We are seeking an Engineering Technician in our Newark, Delaware facility where we produce ceramic composite materials and manufacture products from these advanced materials for the thermal management, defense, industrial, optics and semiconductor industries. This position will be part of our R&D team, focusing on prototype fabrication in support of new product and new customer development activities. This is a Monday-Friday 1st shift position.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Initial duties focused on lapping prototype products
- Project planning, execution, tracking and reporting
- Develop and improve processing methods for inorganic composite materials (preform fabrication, metal casting, mold production and assembly, programming and operation of advanced furnaces, programming and operation of CNC machining centers, precision finishing / lapping of hard materials, and other associated activities)
- Characterization of materials properties
- Measurement of dimensions, both manually and via computer controlled CMMs
- Interface with outside entities (raw materials suppliers, equipment vendors, toll manufacturers, machine shops, and test labs)
- Transfer successful products to manufacturing, including documentation and training

Working Conditions
Position requires on-site activities for prototype fabrication (this is not a work from home position) in manufacturing and lab environment.
Work schedule is 5 days, 40 hrs per week, first shift.
