What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advisor, Gilman International Scholarship Program (Hybrid) position at IIE Organization?
The Advisor monitors a caseload of Gilman Scholars abroad, assists in developing and delivering pre-departure information, assists in developing learning modules to support diverse students who will study abroad, support participation of Gilman Scholars in events abroad and the United States, emergency management services, reporting, and supporting the health and well-being of Gilman Scholars abroad. The Advisor also assists in the collection of scholarship documents, student scholarship payments, follow-on service projects, and serves as a weekend watch rotating point of contact for Gilman Scholars and client, as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Monitors a caseload of Gilman Scholars.
- Assists with cross-functional program activities such as selection panels, outreach and alumni events, and other special projects.
- Assists in managing grantee emergencies abroad as well as program reporting on grantee mobility, health and safety.
- Assists in supporting Gilman Scholar participation in events abroad and in the United States.
- Works with Gilman Scholars in the completion and reporting of follow-on service projects.
- Addresses Gilman Scholar emails and phone calls.
- Assists in developing materials, content and learning modules to support diverse students studying abroad.
The Institute of International Education (“IIE”) has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above.
Education and Work Experience:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good organization skills with high attention to detail. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience advising university students, study abroad students preferred.
- Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in higher education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of working with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
