Job Summary
IKM Architecture, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance/Quality Control Architect to review Drawings and Specifications at the Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Document phases. IKM is proud of its low change order rate during construction and is seeking a candidate to lead this ongoing effort.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and construction professionals to identify potential design issues, streamline processes, and uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance.
IKM has an existing system in place, which the successful candidate will be required to utilize while developing improvements to and/or replacement of that system.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviews:
- Conduct in-depth reviews of project drawings and specifications during Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Document phases.
- Identify potential conflicts, inefficiencies, and constructability challenges to ensure a smooth transition from design to construction.
- Quality Assurance:
- Develop and implement QA/QC processes for each phase of design documentation.
- Ensure all project documentation aligns with regulatory standards, client requirements, and design best practices.
- Ensure coordination of documents among all design team disciplines.
- Ensure coordination between drawing and specification documents.
- Ensure compliance with local and state building codes, as well as the ADA and other relevant standards.
- Identify air, water, and moisture mitigation assembly systems and ensure completeness.
- Coordination:
- Collaborate with project teams, project managers, consultants, and contractors.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare detailed reports on findings and recommendations at Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Document phases.
- Develop and maintain checklists and guidelines for internal use
- Training & Process Improvement:
- Lead training sessions for design teams on constructability principles and QA/QC processes.
- Continuously evaluate and refine QA/QC methodologies to align with industry advancements.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
- Experience:
- 15 years of architectural experience with a strong focus on constructability, construction administration, and QA/QC reviews.
- Licensed Architect.
- Hands-on experience in coordinating with contractors and understanding construction methods and materials.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Bluebeam.
- Proficiency in Revit preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction documentation, detailing, and building systems.
- Thorough understanding of construction processes and industry best practices.
- Analytical and forward-thinking approach to identifying and resolving constructability challenges
- Familiarity with the International Building Code (IBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) specifically its applicability to design.
- Familiarity with the Facilities Guidelines Institute (FGI) code is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Pay: $42.24 - $60.00 per hour
