Position Overview
Reporting to the Site Director, the School Counselor will be responsible for providing support and direction to learners to help them reach their social, academic, emotional and physical potential. The School Counselor will provide individual and group counseling services as needed and collaborate with parents, families, facilitators and school personnel.
School Counselor’s regular hours are Monday through Friday during school hours and on additional days and times as needed to participate in iLEAD functions and career learning opportunities.
Duties and responsibilities

Help students gain an awareness of interests and abilities.

Facilitate learners’ understanding of test construction and help learners and families interpret educational test data.

Understand school graduation requirements and parallel entrance requirements for post-secondary institutions.

Understand and address the unique social-emotional needs of individual students.

Provide individual and small group counseling to students.
-
Facilitate small groups to help students with organization, anger, bullying, grief, and other issues that may arise.

Facilitate an SCVi Advisory class.

Work collaboratively with SCVi Student Support Team and other staff to ensure student success.

Help students become aware of all phases of post-secondary school options.

Organize and maintain college and career catalogs, brochures, handbooks, and other appropriate resource materials.

Coordinate and implement dissemination of information to students, parents, and community members pertaining to the college admissions process.

Maintain student records regarding post-secondary plans.

Coordinate field trips to college campuses and visits by college representatives.

Coordinate administration of PSAT, SAT I and II, and ACT tests.

Coordinate and administer school and community scholarships.

Collaborate with the school and local community in scholarship fundraising efforts.

Facilitate family workshops and assistance in the processing of student forms and applications for financial aid.

Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities provided by the school and self-selected professional growth activities.
Other Responsibilities

Provide ongoing support and actively collaborate with all iLEAD Schools leaders and employees to ensure that the mission, vision, values and philosophy of iLEAD Schools is clearly understood and carried out.

Represent iLEAD Schools in a positive and professional manner in all interactions and communications.

Follow and actively participate in development of all iLEAD Schools guidelines, policies and procedures.

Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities provided by iLEAD Schools and self-selected professional growth activities.

Perform other responsibilities as defined by the iLEAD Schools Executive Team.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology or a related field.
