Senior Accountant
Summary

This will position will help develop, improve, and streamline accounting procedures and internal controls.
Duties and Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to the following)
Payroll
- Process payroll for employees on a weekly basis (salaried and hourly workforce) for three companies.
- Create and enhance payroll processing procedures to improve work flow and efficiency.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
- Stay up-to-date with payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Analyze and reconcile any payroll related issues to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed.
- Review monthly invoices from carriers and approve for payment.
- Prepare monthly union reports.
- Submit certified payroll when required.
- Handle employee concerns regarding payroll and deductions through active listening to find mutually satisfactory solutions.
- Review trial balance; Post Journal entries; Conduct general ledger account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, intercompany reconciliation, Credit Cards reconciliation, inventory reconciliation, and P&L trend analysis.
- Assist in creating invoices/credit memos for intercompanies.
- Analyze fixed asset activity, and capitalize, depreciate, retire, or adjust, as appropriate; Maintain complete and accurate fixed asset records and reconciliations.
- Compiles and analyzes financial statements and reports required by Management; Participate in preparation of annual budget.
- Support insurance renewal/audit preparation in general liability, equipment, vehicle and workers compensation.
- Participate in annual financial review.
- Assist in preparing Income Tax, Personal Property Taxes, Sales & Use Taxes.
- Provide leadership in developing, documenting, and implementing standard departmental operating procedures to ensure compliance and best practices; Remain composed and resilient in the face of challenges, embracing each encounter as an opportunity for professional growth.
- Take ownership in building, strengthening and maintaining positive business relationships by establishing rapport with internal and external personnel; Maintain ongoing two-way communication promoting professionalism, teamwork, positive employee morale, and outstanding customer service.
- Reconcile and post cash.
- Assist with special projects as needed, including growth towards managing day-to-day operations with respect to finance, performing routine to complex accounting functions, and providing financial data to senior management in a manufacturing/construction business environment. Assist in management of subsidiary accounting. Report directly to CFO.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related business field.
- CPA is required.
- 5 years’ of relevant experience is required.
- Understanding of third party payroll processing a plus.
- Excellent computer skills required, proficient with MS Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel) and related software applications.
- Strong mathematics proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Excellent attention to detail.
