Description
We are looking for safety-minded Lifeguards to protect the health and well-being of our members and their guests. Our Lifeguards supervise swimmers at our diving well, junior-Olympic size lap pool and baby pool. They maintain constant surveillance of members and their guests, enforce pool rules with courtesy and fairness, stay alert to prevent accidents, act quickly, intelligently, decisively and in accordance with established emergency and accident management procedures to secure everyone’s safety in the event of emergency, and provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. If you are mature, a strong swimmer, enjoy working with people of all ages, including children, and have excellent problem-solving skills, this could be the job for you!
This is a part-time position for 5 - 15 hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours.
An offer of employment as a Lifeguard at Illini Country Club is contingent upon successful completion of the American Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard certification. Classes will be offered at Illini Country Club, as well as at the Red Cross and YMCA.
Requirements
Successful applicants will:
- Be able to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends
- Be able to stand, walk, reach, bend, etc. for extended periods
- Be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Possess a current lifeguard certification or obtain such certification prior to beginning work
