SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Health and Safety Resource Supervisor, the Health and Safety Resource Coach is responsible for scheduling and conducting on-site visits to License Exempt (LE) childcare providers, who receive payment through the IDHS Child Care Assistance Program. Coaches compliance of required training(s) and implementation. Supports the license-exempt provider community, to enhance the quality of care being provided in the childcare setting. All work to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with organization standards.

This incumbent will be expected to promote and adhere to the workplace core capabilities of: accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement (CQI), communication, competent people and clear priorities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. The organization reserves the right to add to, delete, change, or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.

  1. Work in collaboration with Health and Safety Resource Supervisor to prioritize, prepare, and implement a weekly schedule in order to monitor license-exempt providers that receive payment thought IDHS Child Care Assistance Program. A..Schedule and conduct at least one on-site review to assigned LE providers per year during program’s operating hours. BContact LE provider to confirm visit time and location. C. Use IDHS monitoring checklist to review and confirm that required training has been completed and that health and safety practices are being implemented.
  2. Conduct LE provider reviews and accurately complete all administrative duties. A.Document a complete monitoring report, maintain accurate files, and enter detail data in database system, in the timeframe outlined by the department. B. Ensure that the LE providers operate according to Health & Safety standards. C. Offer technical assistance as needed.
  3. Schedule and conduct Health & Safety Technical Assistance on-site and off-site appointments to assigned LE providers.
  4. Build relationships with providers by engaging in an open and understanding manner, taking into account each provider’s unique situation and circumstances.
  5. Serve as a resource for providers referring and connecting them to other programs at Illinois Action for Children and/or resources available in the community.
  6. Participate in designated outreach activities to provide program information to providers and/or community organizations.
  7. Follow department established protocols for reporting conduct and conditions discovered while monitoring LE home or center, that pose an imminent threat to the health and safety of children.
  8. Execute our workplace core capabilities of: accountability, customer focus, continuous quality improvement (CQI), communication, competent people and clear priorities.
  9. Other functions: The organization may assign other functions to the job at its discretion.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
  • Must successfully complete the required training for this position: ECE Level 1, Child Abuse and Neglect/Mandated Reporter
  • Experience in customer service, social work, community, or field work a plus

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to work independently, with a flexible schedule, which may include evenings and/ weekends.
  • Able to present information effectively and respond to questions.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member.
  • Effective written and spoken communication.
  • Ability to work effectively with providers, staff, community-based organizations and interact effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Accurate record keeping skills.
  • Willingness to travel within Cook County to perform the duties of the job.
  • Ability to attend and participate in required educational programs and staff meetings.
