What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Technician- PAC Events position at Illinois Central College?
The Performing Arts Center Events Technician is primarily responsible for assisting with events by performing technical tasks such as maintaining lighting and stage equipment and providing lighting and assistance for events scheduled in the Performing Arts Center (PAC), Lecture/Recital Hall (LRH), and various indoor and outside locations at, and for ICC. The Technician works a varying schedule including nights and weekends.

- Assist with lighting and stage setting for public events and performances at PAC and LRH.
- Oversee the safety and quality of student stage crew assigned to lighting.
- Attend production meetings with directors/conductors to discuss lighting and stagehand needs for events at PAC and LRH and various locations.
- Attend meetings with various ICC personnel to assist in preparation of events such as the President's Faculty Orientation, holiday party, and health occupation commencement.
- Attend meetings with Student Activities staff to define lighting and staging needs for events at PAC or various locations, as necessary. Assist performers hired by student groups for events at PAC and LRH.
- Provide service, support and consultation to in-house groups and individuals, and to outside groups seeking use of PAC and LRH.
- Assist or stand-in as sound technician as needed.
- Function as stage manager for some public events at PAC and LRH.
- Assist with load-in and strike of performances as necessary.
- Arrange for and assist with the pick-up and/or return of various rental equipment needed for performances, and to assist vendors in this task, when appropriate.
- Maintain inventory of lighting supplies and equipment, and ensure that preventive maintenance is completed.
- Initiate work orders for maintenance of facility, coordinate with General Operations staff.
- Perform related duties as required.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience as a stagehand, lighting technician, sound technician, stage management, carpentry or other related field.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Ability to climb 16-foot ladder in order to adjust and hang lights, curtains, scenic drops, etc.
- Ability to operate 20-30 foot hydraulic lift in order to adjust and hang lights, curtains, scenic drops, etc.
- Strong written, verbal, and reading communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
- 3 years of experience as a stagehand, lighting technician, sound technician, stage management, carpentry or other related field.
- Experiences working with performance contracts, riders, and facility requests.
- Experience soldering iron and multimeter to repair and maintain electrical and microphone cords.
