Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire an Accountant Supervisor for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to serve as a working supervisor. Performs highly-responsible specialized technical accounting work in the application of accounting and financial practices. Maintains comprehensive accounts for the Murray Developmental Center. Oversees the inventory system in relation to procurements and vouchering. Assists in budget preparation, audit preparation and procurement.
Essential Functions
- Performs highly responsible specialized technical accounting work in the application of accounting and financial practices utilizing the state’s accounting system.
- Prepares fiscal reports for review by the Business Administrator.
- Serves as working supervisor.
- Provides oversight and direction to staff regarding the state's accounting system.
- Assists the Business Administrator with budget preparation and completion.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonable within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years (4) college, with courses in business administration and accounting.
- Requires two years (2) of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience performing complex accounting and auditing work involving all phases of accounting, budget execution and development for a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of professional experience using the SAP (Systems, Application and Products) accounting system.
- Two (2) years of professional experience preparing fiscal reports, internal and external reports and audit preparation reports for a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of professional experience reviewing detailed work including written or numerical data and making calculations accurately.
- Two (2) years of professional experience supervising staff engaged in general accounting budgetary or external auditing activities.
- Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Two (2) years of basic proficiency in Microsoft, Word, Excel, etc.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
- Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
