Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire and energetic, detail-oriented individual to serve as Business Administrator for the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center located in Chicago, Illinois. This individual is responsible for maintaining the financial, information management, telecommunications and plant operations of the hospital. They will develop financial, operational and risk-management strategies and reports to monitor accounting systems designed to preserve assets, manage spending plans and report accurate financial results. At Chicago-Read Mental Health Center, we treat individuals with dignity and compassion. Our mission is to provide recovery- oriented evidence-based, psychiatric healthcare services within a safe environment, which promotes quality of life and full participation in the community.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as Business Administrator.

  • Serves as full-line supervisor.

  • Oversees the Departments of Management and Information systems and Telecommunications.

  • Works with internal and external auditors.

  • Participates in the executive management team.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.

  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or private organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in managing a budget including designing and developing budget reports for a public or private organization.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience maintaining financial operations for a public or private organization.

  • Three (3) years of professional experience utilizing automated accounting systems and financial spreadsheets.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience communicating with both internal and external stakeholders in oral or written form ensuring detailed and critical analysis of work performed including writing complex objectives and justifications for contract establishments.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience ensuring policies, reporting and recordkeeping meet the requirements with State, Federal and The Joint Commission in private or public organization.

  • One (1) of professional experience bidding and procuring goods and services.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking.

  • One (1) year of professional experience developing and interpreting policies and procedures for public or private organization.

  • One (1) year of professional supervisory experience, assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff, preparing and signing performance evaluations and approved time off.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience providing recommendations for purchases related to space, equipment, supplies and/or services for a public or private organization.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.

  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.

  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
