Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a Plumber to perform journey level work in the installation, maintenance and repair of sanitary fixtures, devices and assemblies, fluid transmission systems, sewage systems and piping, tubing or other conduit systems in accordance with the applicable laws, rules and codes of the State of Illinois at the Illinois School of the Visually Impaired (ISVI). Measures, cuts, and threads pipe, using stocks and dies, power threading machines, power saws, wrenches, and pipe machines. Instructs individuals in the performance of plumbing assignments. Maintains school water heater and softeners. Directs trenching, excavating and back filling operations necessary to begin or continue work on underground installations or assists others in performance of same.
Essential Functions
- Performs journey level work in the installation, maintenance and repair of sanitary fixtures, devices and assemblies, fluid transmission systems, sewage systems and piping, tubing or other conduit systems in accordance with the applicable laws, rules and codes of the State of Illinois.
- Measures, cuts, and threads pipe, using stocks and dies, power threading machines, power saws, wrenches, and pipe machines.
- Instructs individuals in the performance of plumbing assignments.
- Maintains school water heater and softeners.
- Directs trenching, excavating and back filling operations necessary to begin or continue work on underground installations or assists others in performance of same.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of high school.
- Requires possession of a current valid plumber’s license issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
- Requires the possession of a valid certificate as a Cross-Connection Control Device Inspector (CCCDI) or the acquisition of the certificate within the probationary period of employment.
Conditions of Employment
Upon employment, employee will be subject to Tuberculin (TB) Skin Test.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
