As part of the Marketing/Communications team, the Marketing Intern will help support the mission of IHLS by assisting with creating and maintaining marketing content for IHLS members through social media and the IHLS website. In addition, this person will assist with public relations and internal communications efforts and help manage inventory purchasing and distribution. Thi sis an unpaid internship opportunity in which the incumbent will receive college credits.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities That Will Be Gained
Assisting with managing social media and updating the website:
- Developing TikTok/Instagram content and plans.
- Drafting Social Media graphics.
- Tagging photos.
- Pulling social media statistics.
- Adding/removing staff from the website, listservs, and email lists.
- Publishing grants and resources to the website.
- Adding and updating online resource guides.
- Drafting Press Releases.
- Drafting Continuing Education calendar.
- Publishing news stories.
- Recording and reporting on information covered in Director chat listserv topics.
- Drafting Newsletter.
- Coordinating meetings between departments.
- Communicating with company stakeholders about projects submitted to MarCom
- Taking and sharing team meeting notes.
- Ordering name badges and business cards for employees.
- Working with vendors to make purchases.
- Tracking inventory.
- Creating packets and sending them to appropriate hubs.
- Arranging booth/sponsorship paperwork/payments.
Licenses Or Certifications Required
Valid driver’s license or other accommodations for travel.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
- Knowledge of building marketing programs and reporting on the results.
- Exposure to digital and direct response marketing.
- Knowledge of social media platforms.
- Competence as a creative writer with an eye for great emails and landing pages.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability, including metrics-driven thinking.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to use computers and software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Good oral and written communication skills for the purpose of explaining, persuading and negotiating.
- Ability to work in an organization that is customer service-focused.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the board, governmental representatives, and member libraries.
- Ability to maintain efficiency while performing duties in a professional manner.
- Willingness to help others accomplish their objectives.
