GENERAL DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Business Analyst to join the Enterprise Operations team of the Office of Technology (OTS). The Business Analyst (BA) will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and IT departments to analyze, design, and implement solutions that support the institution's goals and improve operational efficiency. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on data-driven decision-making to enhance student and faculty experiences. The BA will drive strategic projects, ensure process alignment with institutional objectives, and serve as a bridge between stakeholders to support campus-wide digital transformation initiatives.

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $85,000 and is commensurate with experience.

This position requires exceptional communication and analytical skills. The Business Analyst will engage in written, verbal, and in-person communication with both internal and external stakeholders. They must effectively interpret business and technical requirements, translating them into clear, actionable insights for project teams and producing accurate, user-friendly documentation and reports. Attention to detail and the ability to convey complex information in an accessible format are essential for fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment with institutional goals.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

This role requires extensive collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. Internally, the Business Analyst will work closely with departments such as IT, Academic Affairs, and Enrollment, as well as with senior leadership and faculty, to align projects with institutional objectives. Externally, the role may involve engaging with technology vendors, regulatory agencies, and accrediting organizations. The Business Analyst is expected to provide responsive and solutions-focused support through multiple communication channels, including email, phone / video conferencing, and project management systems, ensuring that stakeholder needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in IT, business administration, or a related area.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements, creating workflows, and supporting project management efforts.
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to assess business needs and develop effective, data-driven solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborative mindset, working effectively across cross-functional teams including IT, operations, and business units.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a timely and organized manner.
  • Strong management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft Project or similar project management tools.

    This is a hybrid position (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, California). Prolonged use of computers and intensive keyboard use required. May require the ability to move computers and other equipment up to 20lbs.

    Requirements Gathering : Engage with stakeholders to identify, analyze, and document business requirements, processes, and challenges within administrative and academic departments.
