What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Illinois Institute of Technology?
To assist in the daily function of the Student Health and Wellness Center ( SHWC ) by providing health support services for IL Tech students. Clinical services provided include assisting Nurse Practitioner(s) and Medical Doctor with care of students for illnesses and injuries, assisting with routine treatments, conduct lab tests, administering vaccinations, ensuring immunization compliance and maintenance of office records.
The salary range for this role is $35,000 – $38,000 and is commensurate with experience.
COMMUNICATIONS
Communicate with students, parents, staff and faculty regarding Student Health and Wellness Center’s policy and procedures. Communication may be written, electronic or verbal. Correspondence will also be maintained through outside vendors.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Students are first priority at the Student Health and Wellness Center; they may call us, come in to our department or send emails. The Medical Assistant’s responsibility is to make sure they have the best service possible being the first line of contact. Should s/he speak with parents, staff, or faculty s/he would do the same.

Available for community outreach and health education for student population.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Two years of customer service experience required. High School Diploma required. Good people skills, ability to communicate well verbally, written or electronically. Data entry experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Basic Word and Excel skills required for data entry; good organization skills; excellent customer service skills and verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills essential. Demonstrate time management and organizational skills; ability to move between tasks quickly and efficiently Familiarity with HIPAA and FERPA regulations a plus

Job requires exposure and contact with medical equipment. Exposure to obnoxious odors and vapors seldom. Job position requires ability to bend and stretch Able to stand 60% Lift up to 50 pounds Walking in clinical/office environment 20% Sitting 20%

List any certifications or licenses that are either required or helpful in performing the job, designating whether required or preferred.
Certification as Nurse Assistant or Medical Assistant required. 1-2 year experience as a Nurse Assistant or Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care center or college health setting preferred.
