Job Description
CARPLS legal aid is Cook County’s largest provider of free legal services. We have provided over one million legal consultations to low- and moderate-income residents to help them find solutions to their everyday legal matters. CARPLS operates a legal aid hotline and three court-based advice desks for Cook County. We are also partners with the Cook County Legal Aid for Housing & Debt Early Resolution Program (ERP), and for our statewide projects, we are partners with New Leaf Illinois, the Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network, COVID HELP Illinois and Eviction Help Illinois. https://www.carpls.org/about-carpls/
We are currently seeking a full-time supervising attorney. The supervising attorney will be responsible for supervising staff attorneys and paralegals on the general hotline, as assigned. The supervising attorney will spend approximately half the work schedule providing brief services on the CARPLS Hotline, as well as on CARPLS’ other projects, as assigned. The supervising attorney will assist in the training and professional development of staff and will collaborate with other supervising attorneys in supporting CARPLS’ programs. The supervising attorney will also assist in the creation and maintenance of knowledge management content and client-facing materials in the attorney’s area of expertise.
The position operates on a hybrid remote/office schedule with at least one required weekly day in the office.
Qualifications
The candidate must possess a J.D. from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice in Illinois. The candidate must have at least five years of legal experience, preferably in a legal aid setting.

The annual salary is $91,585 per year. Excellent benefits include 401K (with an employer match), health, vision, dental and life insurance, and pretax transit benefit.
