Help lead the digital charge : The State Journal-Register, Illinois' state capital newspaper, seeks a Digital Assigning Editor. The Digital Assigning Editor will coordinate with the metro editor and managing editor to assign stories for online, working with reporters and photographers to determine the best ways to tell stories online, and to help reporters go beyond the usual 15-inch story to connect with our digital audience. He / she edits stories and helps to plan upcoming coverage.
Candidates must have familiarity with analytics and best practices for social media and online headlines. Applicants should have at least one year of editing / management experience and at least five years' experience in journalism. Experience with video editing is highly desirable. A bachelor's degree is required.
