Help The State Journal-Register, the Illinois capital city's No. 1 news source, lead its sports staff and connect more readers to its online and print sports sections.
Job Responsibilities :
- Direct coverage strategies and edit copy.
- Help reporters tell great stories in formats that resonate on all digital platforms and the newspaper.
- Coordinate schedules and assignments for full-time and part-time sportswriters.
- Work closely with the photo staff to get great visuals.
- Guide and direct trend stories and projects.
- Cover events during busy seasons, such as high school football and basketball, and write a column as needed.
- Utilize social media to effectively push our coverage to the audience.
- Familiarity with digital tools to enhance storytelling.
- Experience with basic video production and editing is a plus.
