What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Program Navigator position at Illinois School District U-46?
- Understand the ISBE requirements of eligibility for PFA/PFAE programming.
- Manage calendar and have flexibility to support scheduling families for screenings and to support the enrollment process.
- Have the ability to communicate clearly and kindly with families regarding eligibility and next steps.
- Be familiar with community partners for referrals.
- Know and connect families to district and community resources as appropriate.
- Be willing to conduct screenings on site and off site as needed.
- Manage student files with organization for compliance and confidentiality.
- Work closely with Early Learners staff to support family access to programming.
- Maintain database for Child Find reporting in collaboration with front office staff/supervisor.
- Collaborate with our home visiting team and our assessment team so all of our children are served to their greatest potential.
- Participate in and support community wide recruitment efforts.
- Flexibility in work hours to serve families at times that are convenient for them.
- Participate in monthly meetings to assess recruitment needs, screening targets, data compliance and provide feedback.
- Current Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Early Childhood Education endorsement.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Possess a positive, non-judgmental, respectful attitude towards all families.
- Experience working with young learners preferred.
- Experience with providing high quality customer service
- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push objects or materials up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
- Stooping, bending, reaching and working at a child’s level is necessary.
- Must have ability to drive self to community/off site screening events.
- This is a 12-month position adhering to the 260-work day calendar.
