- Demonstrate and communicates knowledge of policies and regulations
- Demonstrate knowledge of assessment instruments and tools
- Address referral questions per the domain request
- Interact with students, parents and building staff in an empathetic and collaborative manner respecting differences in culture and values
- Manage student behavior during assessment
- Communicate clearly and accurately with students in both English and Spanish as needed
- Follow best practice standards for assessment and is highly skillful
- Review student educational history and conducts student observations as needed prior to assessment administration
- Create IEP goals and objectives based on educational needs using student data and assists in the development of accommodations and modifications in the IEP document
- Provide feedback to building teams at IEP meetings in both Spanish and English
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness by following district assessment procedures in a timely manner
- Enter diagnostic information into the districts computer based IEP system (ESPED) and creates a hard copy of the report for parents, buildings and district files
- Maintain and use appropriate data to determine assessment procedures
- Demonstrate professionalism in the treatment of student, staff and parents with respect, maintains sensitive information with confidentiality, and promotes ongoing collaboration
- Perform other requirements of the job in accordance with the ETA collective bargaining agreement
- Illinois Teaching Certificate with LBS 1 endorsement and Bilingual Special Ed Approval
- Previous experience in Special Education and Bilingual Education
- Previous experience in the administration and interpretations of diagnostic tools
- Bilingual - Spanish/English (written/verbal) preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in special education language and assessment tools in Spanish and English
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledgeable and Skillful in administering and interpreting ELL testing: ACCESS
- Fluent oral and written Spanish and English skills.
- Bicultural awareness of both Spanish speaking countries and mainstream English speaking community.
- An understanding of the characteristics of second language acquisition.
- An understanding of dual language assessment data collection models.
- Ability and flexibility to work in a variety of school settings
- Ability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to be flexible with schedule changes throughout the school day
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing
- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials
- Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching
- This is a temporary position. Salary and benefits established by the Board of Education.
