Reporting to the Director, analyzes and reviews specialized services primarily in the areas of fire prevention and safety and school construction grants. Limited travel may be required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the analyzing and processing of documents for the Health/Life and Safety Program 10 Year Safety Survey and amendments and School Construction Program applications.
- Consults with architects and district administration as necessary.
- Responsible for the review, system management, and administration of the maintenance, energy efficiency, school construction, temporary relocation, and emergency financial assistance grants and loans.
- Provides technical assistance to external constituents regarding the Health/Life and Safety Program and School Construction Program.
- Develops and maintains resources for school districts, including educational materials and best practices for school maintenance, energy sustainability and indoor environmental quality.
- Develops and provides training materials, presentations and workshops to educate school district staff on the Health/Life Safety Program, School Construction Programs, renewable energy systems, and indoor environmental quality.
- Develops and reviews legislation with the assistance of Regional Superintendents and external constituents.
- Performs special projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Architecture or Construction plus two years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree plus five years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
- Two years (in addition to education requirements) of relevant professional experience.
- Working knowledge of building codes.
- Ability to read building plans.
- Ability to research building standards and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders (school district officials, architects/engineers, contractors, etc.).
