Reporting to the Director, serves as the methods of administration coordinator; provides leadership in Career and Technical Education (CTE); develops a working relationship and provides technical assistance to k-12 schools, districts and educators for employment statewide; works cross departmental to coordinate the initiatives of the Illinois State Board of Education; reviews grants; monitors programs; works to increase equity in CTE reform and innovation in Career and Technical Education; plans and coordinates professional development statewide; innovates work with career pathways and programs of study; understands how CTE programs are developed, delivered, maintained and improved within school districts; realigns k-12 CTE programming with state and federal legislation; assists with the research and policy on CTE topics such as work based learning and industry credentials; serves as the methods of administration coordinator.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides monitoring of districts in the compliance of Title IX Civil Rights and coordination of the methods of administration for the Office of Civil Rights, the state leadership projects, nontraditional and special populations program supports.
- Acts as facilitator for the Gender Equity Advisory Committee.
- Provides leadership and consultative services to local and regional personnel for the development and implementation of effective and innovative practices leading to school reform and improved student achievement.
- Facilitates data collection, analysis and evaluation and provides assistance on implementing data-driven continuous improvement strategies.
- Assists in the planning and implementation of in-service training sessions for regional system, school and agency personnel and other audiences as necessary.
- Collaborates in the delivery of professional development associated with improvement initiatives to institutionalize effective change processes, curriculum innovations and student improvement efforts.
- Initiates and maintains contact with internal and external resources, business/industry and labor representatives and other professional organizations related to assigned program areas in order to sustain and coordinate improved teaching and learning in Career and Technical Education.
- Assists in the review of new and proposed state and federal legislation and rules and regulations.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the State Plan for Career and Technical Education.
- Recommends policy and procedures and assists in the preparation of state and federal performance reports for CTE.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree aligned with any of the CTE service areas: Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (AFNR); Applied Science; Technology; Engineering and Manufacturing; Health Sciences; Computer Science/Information Technology; Human and Public Services/Education; Arts and Communication; Business; or Marketing, or, a Bachelor's degree in one of these areas plus two years of relevant professional experience. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
- Two years of experience (in addition to education requirements) in any one or a combination of the following areas: A) professional training, teaching, or counseling experience in an educational setting; B) professional administrative experience in an educational setting; C) professional experience in the area of civil rights; or D) professional experience in a major technical program area.
- Understanding of CTE and/or career development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with students.
- Experience in working with equity issues. Knowledge of civil rights law, social emotional standards.
