In support of this mission, the ADA Coordinator will provide general support to the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Americans with Disability Act (EEO/AA/ADA) Office in all activities. This role will assist the EEO/AA/ADA Office with a variety of task involving highly confidential and sensitive information, data collection and processing, and report preparation. Additionally, will assist with clerical tasks and office organization.
- Coordinates all reasonable accommodation requests by individuals who have incurred disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), this applies to both Tollway employees and clients served in the Tollway’s offices.
- Interpret and apply federal and state laws regarding equal access for people with disabilities.
- Screens and processes reasonable accommodation requests pursuant to state and federal regulations and Tollway policies and procedures.
- Drafts correspondence related to ADA accommodation requests and collaborates with management regarding such requests.
- Meet with employees requesting accommodations as needed and required.
- Provides resources for workplace accommodations, delivers training and guidance to Tollway employees to ensure they understand the agency’s responsibilities under the ADA and other related legislation.
- Prioritize incoming paperwork and assigned projects to expedite the handling of multiple and simultaneous requests, and must be able to work well under pressure to ensure smooth operations on a day-to-day basis.
- Confidentiality is extremely important in this position, as the ADA Coordinator will frequently have access to disciplinary action, salary information, allegations of discrimination, harassment and retaliation, legal settlements, requests for ethics guidance, and other highly confidential personnel-related information.
- Provides general support to the EEO/AA/ADA Officer in all activities related to this position, including, but not limited to, assisting with ADA dockets, assisting with the processing of ADA accommodation requests and administering a disability survey to all Tollway employees.
- Coordinates employee EEO/AA/ADA training programs, and activities related to these training programs.

Skills and Experience (Required)
- Four years of related work experience, with knowledge of the ADA, Title VI and VII, the Illinois Human Rights Act, and the Rehabilitation Act.
- Four years of experience filing documents and using office equipment.
- Ability to work independently and professionally, maintain strict confidentiality, be organized, have excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
- Experience using Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Organizational and analytical skills.
