GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) is a unique and one-of-a-kind consortium between Illinois Tech, FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), and the food industry. IFSH comprises Illinois Tech scientists, faculty and staff, working collaboratively with FDA scientists of CFSAN’s Division of Food Processing Science and Technology physically co-located at the Illinois Tech Moffett Campus in the field of food safety, technology and nutrition, and with participation from food industry member companies. The uniqueness of IFSH where FDA, academia and the industry collaborate and conduct research in a neutral ground to address major national food safety and nutrition issues has grown IFSH into a diverse premier research institution attracting scientists nationally and internationally.
IFSH hosts the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) and Sprout Safety Alliance (SSA) both sharing an objective of developing training curricula for the food industry. The FSPCA members include senior food safety experts, including government agencies, industry and academia. An Administrative Assistant position has been developed to support the FSPCA. The Administrative Assistant will play an important role in support of the Program Manager organizing and managing the day-to-day activities of this education and training program. An ideal candidate possesses a diverse range of skills, such as time management, calendaring, computer proficiency, attention to detail, strong written and verbal communications, organization, adaptability, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and confidentiality.
The salary range for this role is $45,000 – $50,000 and is commensurate with experience.

Qualifications Education & Experience 3 years of experience in an administrative role. H.S. diploma or GED required. Knowledge & Skills

SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY This position does not include any direct supervision of other staff members. Physical Environment and Requirements The workplace is a normal office environment. The administrative assistant must be able to walk up and down one flight of stairs to travel between departments and may occasionally need to run errands or attend functions off campus. Approximately 90% of the time is spent working at a desk performing office functions and working on a computer. 10% of time is spent outside of the office.
