GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Co-op and Internship Advisor for International Students will assist our robust global student community navigate the search for co-op and internship opportunities and ensure they follow the processes for work authorization compliance.
Primary responsibilities include providing guidance, review, and approval of curricular practical training (CPT) for internships, co-op, and practicum placements. Specifically, the position focuses on international student outreach and providing services and resources to meet the unique career needs of international students. Additional primary responsibility will be collaborating with the International Center to develop and implement programming for international students to understand work authorization policies and procedures when considering doing co-ops and internships.
The salary range for this role is $50,000 – $55,000 and is commensurate with experience.

CUSTOMER SERVICE A primary expectation of this role is efficient processing of internship and co-op applications, and respectful interactions with students engaged with the process. Success will be gauged by students overall satisfaction with Career Services’ portion of the process in receiving work authorization for a co-op or internship. It will also be expected that the person in this role provide valuable advice for student seeking strategies for a successful internship or co-op search, and success will be gauged on the outcomes of that advice. Special Schedule Requirements Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree required. Experience with international services or career services in higher education is preferred.

The ability to problem solve, think critically, and explain decisions rationally
A comfort with extracting and analyzing data for decision-making purposes
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs;
The ability to run and review audits on processes
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY Position will manage 1-3 student staff members. Physical Environment and Requirements Standard office environment with no requirement for lifting objects. Certifications and Licenses List any certifications or licenses that are either required or helpful in performing the job, designating whether required or preferred. None required. Key Responsibilities Key Responsibility Provide processing and 1-on-1 advising services for international students who are seeking or have obtained positions eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT). Percentage Of Time 50 Key Responsibility Plans, develops, and implements career-related programming for international students with campus partners. Primary to this effort will be a close collaborative effort with the International Center. Examples of programs for international students include internship / co-op search strategies, utilizing resources for career exploration and planning, and in some instances, career programs as it relates to enrollment and admission efforts. Percentage Of Time 15 Key Responsibility Oversees and manages the in-semester requirements of international students completing internships and co-ops, such as self-assessments, employer evaluations, and professional development discussions with other students completing internships and co-ops. Percentage Of Time 15 Key Responsibility Assists in the development of processes and policies as it relates to approval, assessment, and evaluation of internship and cooperative education experiences.
Percentage Of Time 10 Key Responsibility Develops and updates international student co-op and internship information (web, print, virtual, etc.) for students. Percentage Of Time 5 Key Responsibility Collaborates with Career Services staff and workgroups and participates in staff activities. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Director.
