The Advancement Database Analyst oversees database maintenance for the Office of Advancement at Illinois Wesleyan University, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and adherence to standards through audits, cleanup projects, and training. They help fulfill data requests by creating and maintaining queries that support fundraising, stewardship, and alumni engagement. They assist with pledge and gift processing, standardizing procedures, and providing backup for gift entry and donor acknowledgments. This role plays a key part in maintaining a reliable advancement database to support strategic decision-making and donor relations at IWU. This a full time, benefits-eligible, on-campus position. Responsibilities:
- Oversee database maintenance and standards; responsible for standardizing all record updates and ensuring adherence to standards through documentation and training to ensure long-term sustainability; conduct regular data audits to identify and resolve data inconsistencies or errors; execute data entry and data cleanup projects to upkeep database structure, functionality, and accuracy of records
- In partnership with our Systems Analyst, fulfill data requests from the Office of Advancement and University partners; create and maintain custom queries for various teams; ensure data requests align with best practices for data integrity, security, and efficiency
- In partnership with our Gifts and Records Coordinator, assist with entering pledges and gifts to the University; act as a backup for the Gifts and Records Coordinator to enter any gifts in the form of cash, checks, credit cards, stock transfers, IRA transfers, or other valuables as gifts-in-kind; assist with standardizing and documenting gift entry procedures; provide backup for acknowledgment letters and donor inquiries
- Attend meetings and trainings to stay current on Advancement Operations and Slate for Advancement best practices; attend Advancement events and meetings as necessary to support the overall goals of the department; perform other tasks, duties, projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; experience in database management and maintenance may substitute for required education
- Minimum of three years related experience; demonstrated understanding and experience with technical systems, relational databases, data warehouses, data mining and data analysis techniques
- Understanding of fundamental Database Management System (DBMS) concepts and exposure to at least one relational DBMS; Slate for Advancement, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MySQL
