Position Overview

This position serves as staff assistant to the Chief of Health Related Prosecutions for the Division of Professional Regulation, assists in the planning, development, and implementation of Statewide Enforcement policies and procedures as they pertain to assigned unit, assists with special projects. This position also independently receives and responds to non-technical inquiries on regulatory prosecution related issues, policies and procedures from various departmental staff members, licensees and/or their representatives, translates requirements and instructions into Spanish for non-English speaking licensees and the public, travels to attend and participate in staff meetings and conferences, enters data on personal computer and/or laptop computer concerning prosecutory activities, and performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as staff assistant to the Chief of Health Related Prosecutions for the Division of Professional Regulation.
  • Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of Statewide Enforcement policies and procedures as they pertain to assigned unit.
  • Assists with special projects.
  • Independently receives and responds to non-technical inquiries on regulatory prosecution related issues, policies and procedures from various departmental staff members, licensees and/or their representatives, etc.
  • Translates requirements and instructions into Spanish for non-English speaking licensees and the public.  
  • Travels to attend and participate in staff meetings and conferences.
  • Enters data on personal computer and/or laptop computer concerning prosecutory activities. 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
  • Requires ability to speak and write Spanish at a colloquial skill level.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least three years of experience working as an administrative assistant, secretary, office manager, or similar role.
  • Prefers at least three years of experience providing customer service by phone, email, and in person.
  • Prefers at least three years of experience translating documents from English to Spanish and vice versa on behalf of an agency or organization.
  • Prefers at least three years of advanced experience in the use of Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
