The Illinois Department of Agriculture is seeking individuals, for temporary employment not to exceed 6 months, for the Illinois State Fair summer season. Essential Functions
- Under immediate supervision, and on a temporary basis for a period not to exceed 6 months, performs a variety of unskilled manual labor and/or simple clerical duties.
- Monitors an assigned area during the Illinois State Fair (ISF).
- Relieves or covers other assigned stations as instructed, when needed.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of eight years of schooling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers experience with working with the general public and assisting general inquiries.
- Prefers experience with maintaining satisfactory working relationships with management, other employees, and members of the public.
- Prefers experience with understanding and following written and oral instructions.
Conditions of Employment
- Must be able to work all 11 days of the State Fair, which may include nights and weekends.
- Must be able to work for up to 8-12 hours a day.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- This position may require a valid driver’s license.
- This position may require the ability to complete a good deal of walking, standing, and sitting.

We are looking to fill positions in the area outlined below:
- Security - This position will be responsible for securing a designated area on the grounds in an effort to assist the Illinois State Police to ensure the safety of fair goers and exhibits. Must be at least 18 years old.
Applications will be scored and ranked from highest to lowest score. Applicants will be offered employment in score order. Applicants scoring 1 or less will only be contacted if necessary to fill any vacant positions.
