Homelessness is the largest social and public health crisis in California. Illumination Foundation (IF) is a growing non-profit organization dedicated towards disrupting the cycle of homelessness by providing targeted, interdisciplinary services in our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing services and children's and family programs. IF currently has 13 facilities with 22 micro-communities scattered across Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.
Job Description
a Facilities Technician 1 is responsible for the repair and upkeep of IF facilities and should possess the knowledge to complete repairs under the guidance of another technician.
Responsibilities
- Complete routine repairs of company facilities and properties.
- Perform repairs on electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, and interior and exterior building finishes.
- Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all tools have their respective guards and safety procedures are being followed.
- Receive feedback and knowledge from higher technicians to grow Core Competencies.
- Inspect company facilities for issues that need to be addressed.
- Occasionally install new flooring in rooms as needed.
- Complete routine preventative maintenance of company facilities and properties ( replace air and furnace filters, smoke alarms, and water filters).
- Routinely clean and organize company assets assigned to you ( Vehicles, tools, equipment).
- Assist in preparing rooms for new client intakes (build furniture and place).
- Ensuring security of our facilities and properties by using discretion with keys, codes, and combos).
- Lock up facilities and properties as needed.
- Participate in team projects.
- Clear out newly vacated room of previous client belongings and trash to prep for room for repairs.
- Passion and commitment to serving those experiencing homelessness.
- Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently without constant supervision.
- Must be able to take direction and positively respond to constructive criticism.
- Fast Learner, able to work in a high paced environment and able to work under pressure.

- Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by Facilities Supervisor.

Required:
- High school Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years ' relevant experience.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to send and receive emails and summarize data in spreadsheets.
- Valid CA Driver's License and eligibility for company vehicle insurance.
- Able to be trained on heavy equipment (forklifts and man lifts)
Preferred:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
