The Medication Administration Assistant, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, prepares, administers and records medications as directed and per policy.

Essential Job Functions
- Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with all individuals.
- Maintains a positive image of the entity in the community keeping in alignment with our mission, vision, and values.
- Responsible for on-call services, as assigned.
- Administers medications as prescribed and per healthcare policy.
- Performs all necessary related functions, such as blood pressure checks and pulses in conjunction with the medication pass as needed.
- Communicates changes in a resident’s condition to the nurse immediately and accurately.
- Successfully completes required educational units annually.
- Attends training sessions, staff meeting and in-services to stay current with information regarding drug therapies and healthcare processes.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.

- Ability to relate well to all individuals.
- Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Minimum age of 18 years old is required.
- High school graduate or high school equivalency diploma.
- Successful completion and certification of the State of Minnesota approved Mediation Administration Assistant training program.
- Be current on the State of Minnesota nurse aide directory.
- Be current on the federal nurse aid directory.
- Current CPR Certification and ability to maintain.
- A Licensed Practical Nurse may be employed as a Medication Administration Assistant when successfully completing the required educational units annually and maintaining licensure with the State of Minnesota.
