ENGINE TECHNICIAN
Ilmor Engineering provides design, development, testing, and manufacturing of performance engines and parts for major manufacturers and racing teams throughout the world. Position Summary
Engine Technicians perform all assembly and tear down activities for any engines designed, manufactured, or serviced by Ilmor.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Assemble, build or tear down any type of engine designed, manufactured, or serviced by Ilmor following industry standard assembly techniques
- Measure components to close tolerances
- Set and verify part clearances to design documents
- Verify conformance of parts to stock lists or blueprints using advanced measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers
- Accurate use of measuring equipment and the required hand tools
- Assemble systems of gears by aligning and meshing gears in gearboxes
- Communicate and liaise with global Ilmor offices on technical matters
- Crack testing of parts using non-destructive methods
- Engine build record keeping with component history data
- Accountable for quality and delivery on engines to customers
- Determines acceptance to the desired standard and takes the appropriate actions
- Other duties may be assigned
Required Education & Experience
- Vocational training or an associate's degree in a related subject, such as assembly, engineering, or engine technology, would be preferred. However, prior experience will also be considered
- Must have knowledge of empirical and metric measuring equipment, including digital height gauges
- Experiencing using conventional engine assembly methods
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft applications

- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and explosives.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
