MARINE ENGINE TEST TECHNICIAN

Marine Engine Test Technicians use a rigorous testing method to test many types of recreational marine boat engines with focus on quality, safety and efficiency. This is a fast-paced, on-your-feet position and is ideal for candidates who are mechanically inclined and quality-focused.
***This position will require approximately 4 weeks of off-site training in North Carolina, with weekends at home. Travel costs are covered by Ilmor Marine.***
Essential Job Functions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
- Must be able to follow instructions carefully, including quality procedures, which may require some basic reading skills and the ability to follow diagrams and pictures
- Must understand the mechanics of internal combustion engines.
- Must be adept at using computers, sensors and following detailed engine testing protocol
- Perform the same task repeatedly
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
- Inspecting fully assembled and/or partially assembled engines, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
- Install engines onto, and monitor engine functions on, hot test stands
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Hands-on mechanical & fabrication skills to support builds, setups, repairs and maintenance
- Strong computer skills in MS Office
- Team player with ability to mobilize support when necessary
- Ability to organize and plan multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to travel up to 5%

- Compensation: Pay rates start at $19/hour based on experience.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and explosives.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
