What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Welding Technician (ARC, MIG, and TIG) position at ilocatum?
We are currently seeking a skilled and certified welder with expertise in ARC, MIG, and TIG welding techniques. As a Welding Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining welding equipment and property at our facility in Peachtree City, GA. The Welding Technician will be responsible for performing weld repairs to equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner. The position offers an attractive hourly rate and is based on the day shift schedule, from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Overtime is available and paid at time and a half. We also offer weekly pay and an additional $1.00 per hour for perfect attendance. In addition, we provide an attractive 401K plan with matching benefits.
Key Responsibilities: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.") General and additional duties may be assigned.
Level I
- Arc Welding: Perform arc welding in various positions, select appropriate rod for different base materials, and apply principles of arc welding throughout the job.
- Mig Welding: Perform Mig welding in various positions, select the right wire and gases for different base materials, including flux core and gas welding. Apply principles of Mig welding during the job.
- Tig Welding: Perform Tig welding in various positions, select appropriate rod and gases for different base materials, and apply principles of Tig welding during the job.
- Oxy Fuel/Plasma/Saw cutting: Perform cutting operations using oxy fuel, plasma, and saw techniques.
- Fabrication: Undertake basic fabrication tasks based on supplied prints and instructions.
- Safe Work Practices: Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment around equipment.
Level II (This level includes all Level I responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Independently select rods for optimal strength and performance of welds.
- Mig Welding: Independently select wire, gases, and pressures to optimize strength and performance of welds.
- Tig Welding: Independently select rod, gases, and pressures to optimize strength and performance of welds.
- Oxy Fuel / Plasma cutting: Set up torch to minimize impact on workpieces with minimal instruction.
- Fabrication: Undertake fabrication tasks based on minimal instruction and supplied prints.
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to ensure safety for facilities and others in the work area.
Level III (This level includes all Level I & II responsibilities)
- Arc Welding: Possess certification in arc welding for all positions.
- Mig Welding: Possess certification in Mig welding for all positions.
- Tig Welding: Possess certification in Tig welding for all positions.
- Oxy Fuel / Plasma cutting: Set up torch without instruction to minimize impact on workpieces.
- Fabrication: Undertake advanced fabrication tasks without instruction and provide own prints (may include basic machining).
- Safe Work Practices: Evaluate work environment to ensure safety for facilities and others in the work area.
Education/Experience:
- Level I - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level II - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Level III - Technical training certificates or associate’s degree, six to eight years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and analyze information to establish facts.

While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, as well as to talk and hear.
